Hello,
I tried to run xflr5 on a linux cluster but it gave me an error, seemingly needing a desktop environment to be able to run ( even from a terminal command ). I am aiming towards tens of thousands of runs for different plane configurations, and therefore I was wondering if it is possible to run both xflr5 and flow5 on a linux cluster, or I should find another way to run them.
Kind regards,
Benoît
Hello Benoit,
What is the error message?
André
Hello André,
” xflr5: cannot connect to X server ”
Once I installed it via “sudo apt-get install xflr5” and run via terminal with “xflr5 -s somescript.xml”. It does autocomplete the “xflr5” so I guess no issue with the installation but other than that I have no clue.

Looks like your sysadmin didn’t install the X11 server on the machine.
Since at the core xflr5 and flow5 are GUI oriented, they won’t work if the system doesn’t provide a display server X11 or Wayland.
