difference-between-fx_ff-and-fx_sum

What is the difference between Fx_FF & Fx_sum? Neither appear to be calculating the Fx value that I would expect based upon Drag = 0.5 * rho * A * v^2 * C_d, even when rotated through the glide angle…

There are two ways to compute the forces: either in the far-field “Trefftz” plane (FF) or by summation of the pressure forces acting on the mesh elements (sum).
Although the two options are provided in flow5 for comparisons, the recommended method is the first one.
