Open Cascade Technology (OCCT)
A recurring request on the xflr5 project page is to improve the interface with external CAD software. This has been made possible in flow5 with the use of the OCCT https://www.opencascade.com/ API.
Wings
Wings can only be defined internally to flow5 and cannot be imported from CAD software. This is unlikely to change because the application needs to keep control of the geometry to identify the wing’s trailing edge and apply the Kutta condition, and to include airfoil viscous drag data.
Wing geometries however can now be exported in STEP, IGES and STL formats.
Fuselages
Fuselage geometries can be imported and exported in STEP, STL or IGES formats.
